The Body Type Halloween Content Guide is Here!
Happy Halloween to all my Spooky Body Type Babes! Halloween is a fun, albeit weird, holiday. Pros: mischief, candy, mayhem, ghouls, etc… Cons: heightened pressures to drink and party, oversexualization and appropriation in costumes, the list can go on. And sometimes, Halloween-related content can be tough too with many horror films being a touch too male gazey and/or excessively violent toward femme-identifying and queer people.
So, this Halloween I present you with some Body Type approved content to munch on with your candy – in lieu of that really expensive Halloween party you don’t really feel like going to. Enjoy below!
To Watch
TV
Crazyhead for those who loved The Misfits, this British horror-comedy follows two women in their 20s who fight demons. Also a great salve for people who miss Buffy every single day!
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina a remake of the beloved Archie Comic and 90s TV show but with a much darker, campier, and more feminist twist.
The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell a bizarre and creepy cooking show from the Instagram’s goth queen. Including some great recipes for chocolate spiders and peanut butter bones if you’re into that.
American Horror Story: Coven AHS has had some highlights (and lowlights), but this season, which follows a multi-generational coven in New Orleans, is the witchiest and the best.
Movies
The Babadook a fantastic horror film out of Australia all about the way grief can haunt us in different ways. And also, of course, a queer icon.
Us the second film from Jordan Peele starring an amazing Lupita is about race, class, the American Dream, among many other things. Also the creepiest the beach has looked since Jaws.
It Follows for anyone who misses 80s horror films, this film will hit the right spot but with some really scary contemporary themes, mainly about sexual health and stigma.
Raw this French film follows a veterinary student who suddenly develops and insatiable craving for (all kinds of) flesh. This one is NOT for the faint of heart, you have been warned…
